Cinque Terre and Amalfi Coast

This week was the first week of classes and I was eager to meet the other students that I would be studying with. At the Lorenzo de' Medici, I am taking Italian Literature and the Ancient Roots of Florence. For my program, we take each class for three hours a day, Monday through Thursday. Because of this, we have extra time to explore Florence and travel to other parts of Italy on the weekend. After living in Florence for a week, I have come to the conclusion that you can get almost anywhere in fifteen to twenty minutes on foot. The train station is only a short walk from my apartment, making it extra tempting to travel often. This week, I got to visit Cinque Terre and the Amalfi Coast. In Cinque Terre, I browsed little shops, visited the beach, ate some amazing food, and admired the colorful, stacked buildings. Much like Florence, all of the buildings and houses in Cinque Terre look fake. In the Amalfi coast, I spent the weekend swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, visiting amazing restaurants, and hiked four miles to complete "The Path of the Gods." While hiking, I saw the most beautiful views I had ever seen and finished off by descending down two thousand steps. I am definitely sore but it was more than worth it! After a full weekend of breathtaking views and crossing things off of my bucket list, it is time for me to return back to Florence for another week of classes!
